New Buckhead Police Precinct Ribbon Cutting

The official grand opening of the new Buckhead police precinct, located at 3060 Peachtree Road, took place on June 29 with Mayor Andre Dickens, Governor Brian Kemp, Interim APD Chief Darin Schierbaum and other local leaders.  There are currently eight traffic officers and four bicycle patrol officers stationed in the new precinct, with the goal to eventually double that number.

Mayor Dickens noted that crime in Buckhead is down 12% year over year and that crime has decreased in Buckhead for the second straight year according to data from the APD.

The Buckhead Coalition and the Buckhead Community Improvement District contributed $150,000 plus furniture. That is on top of $30,000 of contributions from individual members of the Coalition.  Additionally, the City is leasing the space from Cousins Properties for just $1 per year.

This new precinct is an example of the effectiveness of public-private partnerships, with business and civic leaders working arm-in-arm with elected officials to make our community safer and city government more effective.  Governor Kemp also noted that the precinct “is a new resource in our fight against street gangs and criminals.”

“Public safety has no political boundaries,” said Governor Kemp.
