Palmer Proctor is CEO of Ameris Bank and CEO of Ameris Bancorp, and he serves on the board of directors of both entities. A native of Tallahassee, Florida, Palmer holds degrees from Auburn University and The Stonier Graduate School of Banking, Georgetown University. He is a director of Brown & Brown, Inc., an insurance brokerage firm located in Daytona Beach, Florida; a director of Inspire Brands, a multi brand restaurant company; a director of Choate Construction Company and served as past-chairman of the Georgia Bankers Association. Additionally, Palmer has been involved in many civic activities and organizations that focus on championing the arts, education and children’s wellness. He is an emeritus director and past president of Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, former trustee of Fernbank Museum of Natural History, past Westside Future Fund campaign cabinet member and a former administrative chairman of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. Furthermore, Palmer, along with his wife, is a co-founder and executive committee member of the Night of Hope Gala, a benefit for MDA/ALS research (Lou Gehrig’s disease). He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Atlanta and the Buckhead Lions Club.
