Herbert Ames

As Senior Vice President – Regional Lead, Southeast Region, Herbert Ames is responsible for the strategic direction and priorities of the region. With a 20-year career with EDENS, beginning as an intern in Columbia, SC, Ames oversees the existing portfolio as well as future growth through (re)development and acquisitions. Under his leadership, the Southeast region’s portfolio encompasses more than 2.1 million SF of retail, including Whole Foods Market, Publix, Target and The Fresh Market.
Herbert is known for his commitment to the community and is currently serving as treasurer on the board for the Buckhead Community Improvement District. In addition, he serves on the board of the Buckhead Coalition. He previously chaired the Long Range Planning Committee of the City Center Partnership (Columbia, SC) and served on the CCP Executive Committee of Board of Directors, an organization dedicated to reinvigorating Columbia’s urban core and central business district. He also cochaired the ULI Reality Check for the Midlands of South Carolina. Herbert is a graduate of the Leadership Columbia (South Carolina) Class of 2008, and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and Urban Land Institute. He received a Bachelor of Science from the University of South Carolina.
