Conversation with Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens (Part 2 of 3)
2. Voters all across the city overwhelming passed T-SPLOST in May, allowing the city to continue levying the extra sales tax to generate $350 million. The people also voted to allow the city to borrow a combined $400 million in general obligation bonds to fund infrastructure improvements. What impact will that have on Buckhead?1. What is your highest priority as Mayor of Atlanta?
It will have a tremendous, generational impact on Buckhead and the rest of the city. Atlanta residents will see repaved streets, new police and fire stations, and new trails. In Council Districts 7 and 8, which include Buckhead, we’ll be investing nearly $81 million directly, in addition to benefiting from an additional $234 million in investments that will have citywide impacts. In Buckhead, that will include the repaving of Blackland and Putnam roads, as well as $3.9 million in investments in PATH400.
I am pleased that the City Council approved this project list unanimously, and we are all focused on delivering these projects on time, and on budget. The City has learned a lot from our past infrastructure projects and have instituted new processes that will ensure our success.
